This is the birth of a series (Tips Thursday/Tips Tuesday, alternated as the mood shall permit me). I shall be sharing quick, easy and simple hacks for daily needs and health improvements.
The very first in the series is the Make It Yourself coconut milk body wash. Made with ingredients that you may already have in your cabinets and refrigerators. Also, these ingredients can be made at home if you would prefer that option over purchasing them from a store.
1/4 cup of coconut milk
1/3 cup of liquid castile soap
10 drops of lavender essential oil
Combine all three ingredients together and whisk them.
That’s all. Enjoy.
*This quantity should last for about a week, (if you don’t mistakenly drink it though). The mixture tends to separate after a while, so you might have to shake it a bit before using.
Nourishing natural bath.
Great for dry skin, as the fat content helps to lock in moisture.
Combination of an antibacterial, antioxidant and an oil that is a disinfectant; you know this is about to help you tackle skin problems.
And it helps you save. At least that’s what I have learnt from the numbers of DIYs I’ve done.
Before you go on to try this: read more about these ingredients below, especially if you are less familiar with them. There are a number of interesting resources I have been included for further details and how-tos.
A breakdown of the ingredients:
Coconut milk is the liquid derived from the meat of a mature coconut by grating or blending it. This is different from the liquid found inside the coconut itself, the coconut water.
The milk is the product of the coconut meat and coconut water. It has high oil content, most of which are saturated fats (some might say it is probably better on your skin than in your belly). It contains vitamins C, E and B6, iron and magnesium which are famous to be good for the skin.
This milk is a nourishing treat for the skin, and has many various uses and benefits.
Castile soap is made with vegetable oils. Originally made with 100% olive oil, but there are other castile soap options that blend in other vegetable oils such as coconut oil. It contains antibacterial properties, and is used for the treatment of eczema, psoriasis and getting rid of the bacteria that causes acne. Read about its benefits and other uses.
And lastly, Lavender essential oil is one powerful oil, with numerous benefits. Probably not fully discovered yet if you ask me (I always have this one sitting in my cabinet for several purposes). It serves as a disinfectant for the skin, and enhances blood circulation.
So imagine having a simple and natural antibacterial and disinfectant body wash just by mixing three ingredients in a minute or two.
Will you try making this? What else do you do with these ingredients? Especially coconut milk and the essential oil? Share with me.
Now let’s go and nourish that skin.
